In order to keep our "in-house" number of dogs low so that we can give them optimum care & attention, we occasionally have breeding stock to place in approved "foster homes". Foster families must live in the Calgary, AB area, we reserve show/breeding rights for our foster dogs and all dogs in our foster program must be kept intact (not spayed/neutered!).
The foster family does not pay us any money for the dog, but must agree to follow certain conditions set out in our Caregiver/Foster Agreement, please notice this includes the dog coming back to Tollwest (typically twice) to raise litters for us (girls) or occasionally coming back to us for stud services (boys).
Foster families must feed an approved diet, and must be willing to attend training classes with us, as dogs in the foster program will be shown and trialed in competitions. All routine veterinary care and health clearances will be done at my vets (Dekens Housecall Veterinary Services or Southpointe Pet Hospital) at my expense, and all show/competition expenses are also done at my expense. I will also provide regular professional grooming and any needed boarding at no charge.
Once a foster female is finished in our breeding program, she is spayed and CKC ownership transferred to the foster family and then lives permanently with the foster family. Foster males are generally placed into foster homes under an agreement to keep the dog intact until 5 years old.
We hope to have a few young dogs available in the foster program in Spring of 2020.
